Behavior someone is abusing drugs is a human problem, therefore, we need to deal with it humanely. As human beings, they have personal needs that must be met. Whether it's physical or mental needs.
Nurses Role in Tackling Drug Addiction in The Hospital :
- The collection of data and identify problems of patients with Drug Addiction :
- Data from the Patient :
- Personal Identity
- History of disease / drug use :
- types of drugs ever in use
- since when to start taking drugs
- frequency of use
- dose of the drug
- how to use
- last usage, when and how much.
- Complaints of patients in relation to drug effects, eg nausea, vomiting, headache, insomnia, hypersomnia, diarrhea, etc..
- Need to ask the patient:
- motivate the use of drugs for the first time
- motivation to seek treatment
- the environment at the time of drug misuse
- history of education, occupation, marital
- social and economic status
- psychiatric history, such as a feeling of natural disturbance, the possibility of suicide, etc..
- Data from the patient's family:
Required as additional information from the data provided by the patient.
Need to be asked since when parents or families experiencing difficulties in patients. Because, in general, parents or family do not know since when patients use the drug. Fixed them to know since when the patient showed a change in attitude, behavior, habits, school achievement, work performance.
